Mulberry Academy

Are you considering a transition in your child’s education? Let us help you set a pathway for your child’s future.

We know…

You have been through some unprecedented times with COVID-19 and your child has been homeschooling.

But you have discovered that homeschooling wasn’t as scary or inadequate as you believed.  And you also may have found that you are unprepared to take on the responsibility of educating single or multiple children.

So you’re in a state of indecision.

Yet you have another more pressing problem.

Everybody in your family seems to have a voice in the opinion of what you “should do” with your child’s education.

And this is often brought by the fact that when we want to make a decision we start weighing it with other people’s opinion.

Maybe other people are involved in the decisions of your child because they also take care of your child.

And now that you’re faced with this big decision about changing the course of your child’s future. You’re scared. Scared that you will be criticized about any decision that you make.

But here’s one thing I can tell you for sure.

Believing that you’re incapable of making your own decisions just brings more worry and anxiety to whether or not you’re doing right by your child.

At Mulberry Academy

we get it.

We know how much it means to you that when you drop your children in school, you know that they are safe, that they are valued and acknowledged. That you do not have to worry that they are going to be mistreated.

That’s why we offer the parents an individualized approach to education for their child(ren).

Our self paced, mastery based curriculum works well in the home or in a campus atmosphere where children receive help from a group of dedicated adults.

Why Us?

We help the parents, grandparents, or guardians sort through the expectations that they have of themselves and their child(ren) and any preconceived notions about a homeschool education.

After our interview and placement tests, there is an appreciation that it is okay to say my child learns differently from other children.

ie- My child loves science, nature, and math, but isn’t interested in history.

The key is an emphasis on building up the child in all areas leading to happy well adjusted and educated children.

Testimonials

What Parents are Saying

“We love this school! It has been truly a God send for us. I feel like if more people realized what their children are receiving education wise, this school would have more students than they could take trying to sign up. We have not had to struggle during the quarantine since the school offers online classes and the students already knew how to use the system. It made the transition from onsite to home smoother.”

“Mulberry Academy has provided a safe and comfortable environment for my son to learn and develop. The teachers know their students and can tailor their efforts to individual student needs. Mulberry Academy provides a high quality, faith-based education in a family-type environment, successfully preparing students for their future education, growth and development. I believe my son would have fallen way behind in our current public-school system and SO happy to have Ms. Sherry, Ms Breanna, Ms. Gina, Mr. Kenny, Ms. Tina, and Mr. Hank. We have been a part of this school for 3 years now and this year we moved to the Poconos. Nicholas is thriving. Even from 1000 miles away, we are still very much a part of this school.

“We have been with Mulberry Academy for 3 years. In that time, my son has grown to enjoy school in so many ways. The teachers here spend one on one time with the children. The individual attention and encouragement they are given has helped my son’s social, emotional and academic development. We are thrilled with his growth and progress. We plan to send his younger siblings in the years to come. I recommend Mulberry Academy wholeheartedly. It has been a heart-warming experience for us.”

About The Founder

Dr. Sherry Furlow is visionary minister and natural health professional. She is married to her husband of 40 plus years, Hank Furlow and lives in Montgomery, AL . She has an adult daughter and son, both married and  has 6 wonderful grandchildren. She founded The Dream Center Montgomery, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit, following a death experience and radical encounter with Jesus. She works tirelessly to help individuals and families to come to healing and wholeness.

About The School

My husband is a retired public educator and our children attended public school. As we observed the education system attempt to become the parental replacement in the lives of children, we decided that we would seek an option for our grandchildren. We couldn’t find what we were looking for so we created it and invited other families to join us.

Above all else, the value of the person and the relationship is greater than any current conflict. Our solutions are not only education and skill mastery based, we offer whole person support. We look at the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the child and the family when needed. i.e. A child that doesn’t get adequate nutrition has difficulty learning. We ask about food insecurity issues and offer help or direct the family to resources.

We offer solutions for the education of children with minimal entry costs while providing excellent coursework. We seek to empower and encourage parents, grandparents or guardians to choose what is best for their child(ren) and their home situations without undue expectation and pressure.

Our Mission & Vision

I believe that children are our future and am greatly grieved when I see the state of the treatment of children. They are undervalued and often seen as dispensable when they are the solution to the problems we have. Children are untapped creativity and hope.

The heart of a society is seen in the way it treats children. I desire to see all children clothed, fed, sheltered, educated and given the opportunity to open the gifts within themselves. I treat each child as the exquisite diamond that they are.

Mulberry Academy has been such a blessing for our boys. We thank God for Him providing a Christian based education in a small, safe and secure environment for David and Caleb. Our boys are starting their fourth year at the school and they love it!

They have great friendships with other students. They adore the faculty and tutors. They talk about the things they have learned from Ms. Sherry and Mr. Kenny most every day. Mulberry Academy is a place that has stewarded my boy’s hearts and minds. It is a privilege to be a part of the school. It has been the best years of our boy’s education.
